5 Steps to Take to be Approved for RewardStyle & LIKEtoKNOW.it

If I had a dime for every time someone asked how I got approved for RewardStyle…

I don’t have thousands of followers (I had around 1,200 when I applied), I’m not a well known influencer or blogger (yet 😉), but I did my research and learned what they look for.

I applied to RewardStyle and thought, ok, it may be a few months before I hear back…and I most likely won’t be approved. But 6 days later, I got the beautiful welcome email! I was shocked and pleasantly surprised!

So, if you’re interested in applying to RewardStyle here is what I did before applying and what I think got me that approval.

RewardStyle is the platform/tool you use to link items. LIKEtoKNOW.it is the app where users can shop your links!

1. Make your Social Media Profiles Public

I used my Instagram account on my application because that’s the platform I use the most. Whichever platform(s) you choose to use on your application, you need to make your profile public (so people can actually see your posts) AND if you use Instagram, switch to a business account. Having a regular public account is one thing, but having a public business account provides insights.

Insights show you extremely valuable information including:

  • Which of your posts are performing better than others (this will help you in step 2)
  • The best times to post
  • How many impressions your posts are getting
  • and so much more!

When you see how many people/accounts are seeing your posts you’ll be amazed. They may not be “liking” or “commenting”, but they see you!

2. Find your Niche

Your niche is what you specialize in. It can be a variety of things, but narrow it down and stick to posting about those things the most.

Examples:

  • Food/Recipes
  • Fashion/Style
  • Home Decor
  • DIY Projects
  • Motherhood/Baby
  • Travel

I narrowed mine down to what I was seeing the most engagement in – Style & Motherhood. People love babies. I mean, they’re really cute. But I had no idea how much people loved babies until I had my own. And the mom squad is STRONG! I get the most engagement on posts with a photo of her and I together, especially when it’s about our mama & me outfits! That leads into the style side. I’m always asked where I get my clothes, Kaia’s clothes, and my home decor. So those are the things I post about the most.

Keep in mind, RewardStyle and the LIKEtoKNOW.it app are all about shopping. Fashion, styling, home decor and motherhood are gonna be more desirable niches to them because it all involves a heavy amount of shopping.

3. Post Quality Content

Instagram (social media in general) is all about the visuals! You want clear, well-edited photos and well thought out captions.

When you put effort into these things, people notice.

What you should not get stuck on is having every single photo look the same in your feed. Most people are not visiting your profile, they are looking at the individual posts and your stories. It’s a plus to have a beautifully curated feed, but don’t dwell on that. Once you find your niche and your editing style, it’ll all come together naturally.

Your captions should be descriptive, interactive, and share your thoughts on the products in your photos. Use keywords that are trending (example: right now some trending keywords are ‘Valentine’s Day’, “Spring style’, ‘Spring decor’, ‘date night’.

RewardStyle would probably want to make sure if they give you access to create affiliate links, you will put the effort into producing quality content.

4. Engage with your Audience

Engagement is KING! You could have thousands of followers and not one of them could give a flip about your posts OR you could have 100 followers who comment and like and share your posts. You want the quality followers, and RewardStyle wants you to have followers who will ask for those links and actually shop.

How did I increase my engagement? Instagram stories. I get on camera everyday – whether it’s a quick snapshot of me or a video, I get on camera and show my face. When people see you and make that connection, they are more likely to want to interact. Put a face to that instagram handle.

Whenever I’m about to head out of the house, I like to post my outfit of the day (#OOTD) to my Instagram stories.

Another way to increase your engagement is to engage with others! Find accounts you vibe with and show them love (it’s called social media for a reason). They will reciprocate! Engage with me, I’ll engage with you.

5. Apply to RewardStyle

Once you have a solid handle on your account, your content, and engagement, it’s time to apply! The actual application is a very simple and straightforward process.

If you are serious about applying, let me know! I’d be happy to chat with you and answer any questions.
